We purchase newborn calves from local dairies and sale barns, which we personally hand-feed with a bottle or milk bucket till they're 8 weeks old. When a calf reaches 8 weeks of age, he is weaned from the bottle and moved to the “big boy” corrals! Once in the “big boy” corral, the calf will grow to approx 400-500# before processing.
Never ever, under any circumstances whatsoever, is a confining crate or pen used! As you can tell from the pictures, the calves are tame and are quite obviously stress-free!
Our calves are also never injected with steroids or growth hormones. Antibiotics are only used as needed to save a calves life.
Because we personally raise all our own calves, we have a limited amount of Veal available. However, there's always more soon to be ready! If your meat choices are not available at this time, please send an email requesting to be put on the mailing list and we will notify you as soon as more is available!
